Aston Villa will make history in early November as they host Dutch side AZ Alkmaar for the first time in a Europa Conference group stage tie.

The two-times Eredivisie winners are well versed in European football and beat Lazio and Anderlecht to reach the semi-finals of last season’s competition, only to lose out 3-1 on aggregate to eventual winners West Ham United.

This season the Kaaskoppen eliminated Andorran side FC Santa Coloma and Brann of Norway to reserve a spot in Group E… and a first-ever trip to Villa Park.
