Barnsley will entertain Grimsby Town and Manchester City Under-21s this September in Northern Group F of the EFL Trophy.

The Reds, winners of the competition in 2015/16, entertain the League Two Mariners on Tuesday 5th September at Oakwell before hosting the Premier League side’s youngsters on Tuesday 26th September.

Last season’s League One play-off finalists last met Grimsby in February 2004 – and haven’t beaten them since 2001 – and previously faced City in 2013 in an FA Cup tie.
