The Black Cats finished sixth in the table on 69 points after winning 3-0 at Preston North End on the final day to capitalise on Millwall’s slip-up, as Tony Mowbray’s men look to reach Wembley later this month to earn back-to-back promotions.

Sunderland host a Luton Town side that finished the regular campaign in third spot, but who have drawn the previous four meetings between the two sides and are winless on Wearside since 1973.

This first-ever play-off meeting between the two is sure to prove a must-have keepsake to complete any serious collection.
