Aston Villa vs LOSC Lille (UEFA Europa League)
Fixture Date: 19/03/2026
Competition: UEFA Europa League Last 16
Aston Villa face French side LOSC Lille at Villa Park this March in a tantalising second-leg tie of the Europa League Round of 16.
The Claret and Blues eliminated the Ligue 1 side on penalties from the Europa Conference League quarter-final stage in April 2024, after both teams had won their home legs 2-1, and will want a repeat performance under the lights at Villa Park once again on Thursday 19th March.
Unai Emery’s side finished second in the league phase of this season’s competition, winning seven of their eight games including home victories over Bologna, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Young Boys and Red Bull Salzburg.
Bruno Genesio’s visitors, who are currently fifth in the French top-flight, placed 18th in the Europa League standings with four wins from eight games, before knocking out Red Star Belgrade in the play-offs to set up a return trip to B6.
Villa’s record prior to the 2024 encounter with Les Dogues came back in the 2002 UEFA Intertoto Cup, losing 3-1 on aggregate, but avenged that defeat 22 years on to reach a first European semi-final since 1982.
The West Midlands club will want to continue their journey once again at Lille’s expense on the road to Istanbul, where they would face Bologna or Roma in the last eight if they progressed.
