Record competition winners against giantkillers, manager versus midfielder or Premiership title chasers against second-tier underdogs… whatever subplot you take the Scottish Cup Final between Celtic and Dunfermline Athletic has all the ingredients of a classic.

The Pars reached a first final in 19 years after penalty shoot-out success in the Kincardine Bridge derby over rivals Falkirk in the semi-finals. O’Neill’s green and whites saw off St Mirren in an eight-goal epic in their last-four encounter in April, which required extra-time, to set up a repeat of the 2007 showpiece finale against Athletic. The Glaswegian behemoths will be overwhelming favourites in a 62nd Final appearance as they look to defend their Premiership crown and earn a domestic double.
