Fixture Date: 01/11/26

Competition: Premier Sports Cup Semi-Final 2026/27

A first Edinburgh derby in a Premier Sports Cup semi-final between Heart of Midlothian and Hibernian is one to be savoured this Autumn.

As well as earning the bragging rights over their cross-city rivals, both sides will want to progress to the showpiece finale after long waits for success in this competition. Hibernian were beaten finalists in 2021/22 and 2015/16 and have not lifted the prestigious silverware since 2007.

It’s been even longer without glory for Hearts. The Jam Tarts haven’t reached the Premier Sports Cup Final since 2013, when they lost 3-2 to St Mirren, and have to look back to 1962 for their previous trophy lift.

Head Coach Wouter Vrancken has Hearts up to third in the Scottish top-flight though, and competing in the UEFA Conference League this term, but they would love to add to their upward trajectory by adding something tangible to the trophy cabinet.

Hearts eliminated Inverness and Stenhousemuir to set up this cup derby against Hibs, who they beat 3-1 back in September, and will be overwhelming favourites to progress to the Hampden finale.

Although bottom of the top-flight table, Marink Reedijk’s Hibs will need no extra motivation to upset their rivals’ quest for silverware and simultaneously ignite their own campaign. Hibernian haven’t conceded in this season’s competition after victories over Partick Thistle and Ross County.

This Premier Sports Cup semi-final clash is sure to be a captivating affair, and supporters can order the SPFL’s official matchday programme from the event.

A ‘must have’ piece of cherished memorabilia, the publication is a spine-bound B5-size 68-page commemorative edition and is available for £5, plus post and packaging to a UK address. Overseas deliveries will incur an increased P&P charge, which will be calculated based on the delivery address provided.

This edition will be posted out on Friday 30th October but is not expected for a pre-match delivery and should arrive no more than five working days after despatch.
