Scotland v Switzerland
Competition: UEFA Nations League
Fixture Date: 29/09/26
Scotland’s new manager Sebastien Pocognoli will make his introductions to the Hampden faithful in a first home game in charge against Switzerland in late September.
Steve Clarke ended a seven-year reign with the national team after last summer’s World Cup, and the new Belgian will be out to impress the Tartan Army as they get their UEFA Nations League campaign underway on home turf.
The Scots last faced Switzerland in the group stages of Euro 2024, when Scott McTominay scored in a 1-1 draw. Prior to that the visitors were 3-1 winners in an international friendly in March 2006 in Glasgow.
The Swiss, managed by Murat Yakin, will provide a stern test after topping their World Cup group in the Americas and progressing to the quarter-finals after knockout victories against Algeria and Columbia.
Standing 14th in the latest FIFA world rankings, the Rossocrociati are packed with familiar faces including captain Granit Xhaka, Aston Villa’s Johan Manzambi and Dan Ndoye and Noah Okafor who also ply their trade in the English Premier League.
The Tartan Army never miss an opportunity to back their boys at the national stadium and will be out in force once again as the hosts look for an immediate return to League A after demotion to Group B1 after the previous series.
