Sunderland face Coventry City in a Championship play-off semi-final showdown as they aim to take their promotion push to Wembley.

The Black Cats finished fourth in the second-tier with 21 wins from 46 games, amassing 76 points, and will encounter a Sky Blues side over two legs that were a place and seven points further back.

The Wearsiders are targeting a return to the Premier League after relegation in 2017 but have an erratic track-record with the play-offs, including three set-backs in six seasons as well as promotion out of League One in the play-off final of 2021/22.

Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris is determined to end a recent six-game winless run as the North East side aim to book their place under the Arch once again by taking full advantage of a second leg at a roaring Stadium of Light.

The visiting Sky Blues, who have not lost in their last 10 meetings with Sunderland, will be equally as intent on booking a May date in the capital after earning a play-off berth for the second time in three seasons.

The West Midlands outfit have been down to League 2 and back since they last graced the Premier League in 2000/01, but are hopeful that boss Frank Lampard can help restore those halcyon days.
