Sunderland’s first European fixture for 53 years sees them host AZ Alkmaar in the league phase of the UEFA Europa League.

The Black Cats will welcome the Netherlands side to a raucous Stadium of Light in September, as Regis le Bris’s men look to begin their continental adventure on a winning note.

AZ, who were UEFA Cup finalists in 1981, qualified for the competition this time around by finishing seventh in the Eredivisie last season and reached the quarter-finals of the Conference League.

Lee-Roy Echteld’s side will head to Wearside in confident mood after starting the current campaign strongly and headed the Dutch top-flight after five games.

Supporters can pre-order a copy of the club’s official match-day publication ‘Red & White’ for this European tie and have it delivered direct to their door post-match.
